Pastoral Minimal

February 20, 2010

It feels so good to be back. A brief voyage to warmer climes left me yearning for my wordpress habitat, and I am more than happy to say that The Vamp is back in full force. Kudos to Trackson for holding down our electronic fort in stellar fashion.

So what’s on the musical menu for possibly the biggest party night of the weekend? How about a massive minimal-tech gem that has been popping up in sets all across Europe, for the past two months. The source is unsurprisingly a Frenchman, based out of Paris, by the name of Joachim Pastor. He’s an important part of Popof’s techno super-label, which goes by the name Form, and has grabbed the attention of DJs and Producers alike in alarming fashion.

The track I speak of is called Krikriturn, and goodness me, it pays immediate aural dividends. It’s a slow build, with all of the charming characteristics of 2010′s version of minimal-tech. The melody at around 2:40 is beyond impressive, sparking a nearly uncontrollable groove on the dancefloor. Enjoy this one while it’s hot.
