Aggravated Assault

October 3, 2011

If you happen to follow any of us on Twitter, or have paid any attention to our content over the past few months, you will have undoubtedly heard us raving over this year’s crop of albums. Without exaggeration, we could easily compile a list of fourty at year’s end, and not come close to diluting the quality of the LP’s being included.

Of course, several of you keeners will already know that the much-anticipated L-Vis 1990 LP, Neon Dreams, dropped today. And not to be outdone, the guys at Ghostly International have yet another big one on the horizon, following up the Com Truise album by commissioning a long-player from Tycho, a music project from San Francisco artist and producer Scott Hansen — some really uplifting instrumental business, that falls right in-line with Ghostly’s interplanetary, experimental vestiges. That one officially drops in November, so hang tough.

But in typical eTO fashion, we once again have our eyes set on an aural destination much more suited for the epileptic flashy lights, the exceptionally dark rooms, well into the abyss of EDM. Naturally, we’ve called upon German techno staple Ostgut Ton, whom we’ve just recently spoke of; their latest offering, an album composed by another legend — Mr. Luke Slater aka Planetary Assault Systems. This one goes by The Messenger, a versatile assortment of techno with some crashing power stuff in the mid 130′s, as well as some more conventional dance music in the high 120′s. The track Rip The Cut featured sorta kicks the door down, serious groove, menacing lead, and some pretty volatile build/drops.
