Torro Torro

Today, I got an email from a Toronto native named YO EV who sent me a few tracks that he did in collaboration with another talented guy named Mikey Digits from upstate New York. Don’t worry if you don’t recognize the names individually because I didn’t either, but together the pair make up Torro Torro, a serious duo who have over 20 years of classical music training between them. You may recognize the name from the Salacious Sound remix competition a little while back that had their remix of Barletta’s “Panther” released on Intelligenix as a result of being one of the winners. According to Ev they’ve been working in their Toronto studio everyday since spring and the tracks coming out of that studio are definitely worth taking notice of. While we’re not the first blog to feature these tracks, the next two remixes are definitely worth sharing.

Sidney Samson – Riverside is a track that anyone who has attended a club in the last few months has undoubtedly heard numerous times. It’s come to a point that most times when you hear the easily recognized and then the vocal “riverside motherfucker” it’s more than likely followed by a groan or two and probably has a few eyes rolling on the dancefloor. There’s only a few remixes that have any different result and the Torro Torro remix is definitely one of the select few. They put a nice twist on the repetitive beat that comes after the drop to make it playable once again.

Rye Rye is one of those oft-remixed artists where the result is often catchy and pleasing (Wassup Wassup is a prime example) and Torro Torro’s remix of “Bang” bounces and bangs all the way through, from start to finish. They made a solid old-electro remix of it that makes your speakers bang, but at the same time steers way clear of being the annoying “electro banger” that makes most people puke now-a-days.
